Participate in an Anonymous Study on AED Signage
We are conducting a research study investigating how effectively different Automated External Defibrillator (AED) signs can be identified in real-world environments.
Although we require participants to enter an email address and create a free site membership, this is used only to:
-
prevent duplicate participation,
-
reduce automated/bot responses, and
-
maintain the integrity of the study data.
Your email address and membership details will not be associated with any published results or identifying data. Participation data will be analysed anonymously.
Your free site membership may be cancelled at any time, and you may also unsubscribe from communications while retaining your account if you prefer.
How to Participate
-
Enter your email address below.
-
The system will check whether you are registered as a site member.
-
The system will then check whether you have already participated in the study.
Participants who have already completed the study will not be permitted to participate again.
Eligible participants will proceed to the study task.
Study Task
The study consists of a visual search task involving 18 images of indoor and outdoor environments.
Each image contains exactly one AED sign. The sign may be:
-
green and white,
-
red and white, or
-
yellow and red.
For each image, your task is to locate the AED sign as quickly as possible and click on it using your mouse.
You will have a maximum of 30 seconds per image.
Device Recommendation
We strongly recommend completing this study on a desktop or laptop computer.
Phones and tablets may reduce image visibility and affect performance.
Use of Data
The collected data will be analysed to investigate which AED signage designs are most rapidly and reliably identified in real-world settings.
The findings may be submitted for publication in a scientific or medical journal to support improvements in public AED visibility and accessibility.
Good luck, and thank you for contributing to this research.
